Remember Reno Air? Me neither. But apparently AA, who bought them in 1999, does and painted this 737 with their livery. Also spotted (from top to bottom): one of the new Amazon PrimeAir 767's, a TWA-liveried 737, an AA 787 (multiple pics), two Spirit Airbus’s in a row showing the current and former liveries, and finally a CRJ900 wearing the US Airways express livery that had so far escaped being repainted as an American Eagle.

Simple and classic. I think the base paint on the AA version is a light gray rather than white and it didn’t look quite right.

The 787, to me, is deceptively big. You don’t really get a sense of the size until you are up close or see it next to a 737. Also, didn’t know that Amazon has their own planes now. I’ll have to keep my eyes open for that. My son and I were at Founder’s Plaza last week. Got some nice shots of an Eva Air 747, then came back to watch Qantas Flight 8, the A380, depart for Sydney.

I read that Amazon is leasing the planes from Atlas. I don’t know if they are contracting out logistics or doing it in house. Totally agree on the deceptively big thing. It looks like a 737 until you get another plane next to it for reference

The last time I was in Seattle, on the drive back to the airport we passed Boeing Field/King County International. There was a 787 parked next to some E3 Sentries, and it made the E3s look like children’s toys. That was my first (and only) real perspective on the size of the 787 so far.

I remember Reno Air. We flew them in July of 96 from ABQ to Reno (via LAX, all legs on MD-80s) for a vacation to Lake Tahoe. It was the first flight I took that I was old enough to remember. I know that we flew a bunch of places whenvI was a todler, but then not again until this trip when I was 11. I loved every second of flying, and I got to visit the cockpit on the ABQ to LAX leg.

TWA flight 800 actually happened while we were in Tahoe, as I remember watching the news coverage of it late that night after getting back to the condo in Tahoe after the two-day side trip to San Francisco.

Gotcha. I’m currently stuck in NJ with a rental Toyota Sienna and my Forester is hopefully not picking up too many dings in a parking garage back in TX.
